Page 5 of 6 RLS’s Victorian Edinburgh This section gives you the opportunity to see Victorian Edinburgh. This is the Edinburgh that Stevenson saw and wrote about. Indeed, many of the buildings and places RLS described still stand in the city. Nevertheless, these images give you a sense of Edinburgh's atmosphere in the nineteenth century. To learn more about the history of Edinburgh, you may want to visit the People's Story Museum in the Cannongate Tollbooth (163 Royal Mile, Edinburgh). The museum is dedicated to telling the story of the people in Edinburgh from the eighteenth century to the present day.
